A new resort is set to open just 30 minutes from the entrance of Zion National Park. The Zion Canyon Hot Springs resort is a WorldSprings property that will house over 50 pools. WorldSprings chose the La Verkin location because of its proximity to the La Verkin Hot Springs in the Virgin River Gorge.
The Washington County Water Conservancy District offered a deal allowing the company to use about 2,000 gallons of natural hot springs mineral water per minute, according to KSL.
“We’re really excited about bringing this amenity to the community and to the visitors who come to Zion every year, and can’t wait for this facility to be open to show people what we’re about,” Christian Henny, president of Zion Canyon Hot Springs, said at the groundbreaking ceremony March 2023. “It’s going to be a great experience and something that I think everyone’s going to really love.”
As with other WorldSprings locations, some of the hot spring pools will mimic the mineral qualities of popular destinations around the globe. This includes pools that are engineered to have the same qualities as the Dead Sea, the Icelandic Blue Lagoon and the waters in Soda Springs, New Zealand.
The natural mineral pools at the resort will use a “flow-through” design, utilizing the Virgin River flows. The resort will channel water into their pools, where guests are asked to shower before entering to reduce any water quality issues. Then, the water will flow back into the river.
Zion National Park attracted 4.9 million visitors in 2024, and it remains one of the country’s most-visited national parks. La Verkin Mayor Kelly Wilson spoke at the groundbreaking ceremony last year, saying, “We’re excited as we can be to have them come to town. . . . It’s going to be a great facility for La Verkin and for the whole county.”
There is no official opening date yet for the resort, though they are posting regular updates on their website and social media.
