Yosemite National Park
Yosemite National Park is best known for majestic waterfalls flowing into the picturesque Yosemite Valley. But there is plenty more to see in the giant sequoia groves, grand meadows and expansive backcountry.
Yosemite is one of the first national parks, established in 1890. John Muir was instrumental in lobbying for the park’s designation as a way to protect and preserve the landscape.
Basic Information
Entrance Fee: Standard Entrance Pass. Vehicle reservations required during summer season.
Size: 748,542 acres, or 1,169 square miles
Operating Schedule: The park is open 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. However, the Hetch Hetchy Entrance Station is open only during daylight hours and some roads are closed due to snow from around November through May or June.
