MOAB, Utah — Be sure to plan ahead if you’re heading to Moab this Labor Day weekend. Arches National Park will resume their timed entry program after it was paused for a few weeks during the summer heat, when visitation typically drops off.

Starting August 28th, visitors will need to reserve a ticket in advance in order to enter the park between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. daily through October 31, according to the park.

Although reservations aren’t required for Canyonlands National Park, Labor Day adventurers should expect increased traffic, long lines at park entrances, busy trails, and limited parking at both parks.

Reservations can be made online at www.Recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777. Tickets are available now; additional next-day tickets will be released at 7 p.m. daily starting August 27.

Park officials also warned that late summer can bring varying weather conditions to the high desert. Be sure to check the forecasts and choose activities appropriately. On hot days, pack plenty of water and healthy snacks and avoid strenuous hikes and prolonged sun exposure. The sun may set earlier than you expect, so bringing a headlamp and extra layers is also recommended.
